The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the City of Peru, and projects a snowfall of between 2-4 inches. Out of an abundance of caution, pursuant to Ordinance No. 2025-01, the Mayor is declaring a snow emergency beginning at 12:00am on Saturday, January 24th, 2026. The City's Green Waste Dump will be temporarily closing at noon on December 4th, 2025 until further notice. This is due to the dump being full of green waste, and the City has been unable to clear the waste by burning it. Once the City has been cleared to burn the waste and the dump is clear, we hope to reopen it.

The splashpad at Sid Brown Park has been shut off for the winter. It will most likely not be open until April or May of 2026.
