The City of Peru seeks a highly motivated, dependable individual with a strong work ethic and a valid US driver's license to join our team!
Essential Functions
-
Maintenance and repair of streets, water, sewer, equipment, building, etc.

Reads utility meters monthly. Performs utility meter maintenance as necessities

Performs manual physical labor.

Performs snow removal and lawn maintenance of City-owned property.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
A self-motivated individual that is capable of making decisions in the day-to-day operations of the city in a safe manner.

Able to follow directions.

Able to learn to operate vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools as required.

Able to maintain regular and dependable attendance on the job, including attendance and job performance for possibly prolonged periods of time when called out on short notice due to weather conditions, emergencies and similar situations of public necessity.
Requirements

Must possess a valid United States driver's license.

Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire.

Be able to speak, read, and write the English language.

Must be willing to obtain any licensing required by the City.
Essential Physical Demands and Typical Working Conditions
Work is generally performed outdoors and requires a considerable amount of physical activity including walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping.​
The applicant must have reliable transportation. Duties require the ability to tolerate an indoor and outdoor work environment which includes contact with dirt, dust, chemicals, pesticides, noise and inclement weather conditions. Must wear appropriate work attire and PPE as required.
An applicant must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and the ability to operate hand and power tools. Work hours may include on call evenings and weekends.
