The City of Peru has declared a Snow Emergency effective at 8pm Tuesday, March 4 in response to a Blizzard Warning issued by the National Weather Service. The NWS forecasts heavy snowfall, with accumulations exceeding 2 inches, along with strong winds and hazardous travel conditions.
In accordance with Ordinance No. 2025-01, the following measures will be in effect to ensure public safety and facilitate efficient snow removal operations:
Snow Emergency Parking Restrictions:
Parking is prohibited on all city highways and streets within 12 hours of a snowfall of 2 inches or more.
Vehicles parked in violation of this ordinance may be towed at the owner’s expense to ensure safe and effective snow removal.

Residents are urged to stay informed about the snow emergency and parking restrictions through the following channels:

Important Safety Reminders:
Avoid unnecessary travel during the blizzard to allow snowplows and emergency vehicles to operate safely.

Duration of the Snow Emergency:
The Snow Emergency will remain in effect until 12:00pm Wednesday, March 5, or until further notice. The City will notify the public when the emergency has been lifted and parking restrictions are no longer in effect.
